EFL Tips: 13/1 Midweek League One Treble

Shrewsbury v Burton

I mentioned in my ante-post preview that I thought Burton would struggle this season. That prediction looks good with Albion losing all three games (including one EFL Cup fixture). They’ve conceded 7 times in those matches and have yet to notch a goal themselves.

Shrewsbury got off to the perfect start in beating Cheltenham at home but have faced a tough run since. Losses to Championship side Leeds and unbeaten Stevenage have followed but I still think the 13/10 available for the Shrews is a good bet. They were competitive in both losses and back at the New Meadow they should take all three points.

Wycombe v Leyton

This is a battle between two sides that have lost their opening two league matches. For Orient, it’s been a wake-up call after routing League Two last season. The four-nil defeat on Saturday at the hands of Portsmouth will be especially disappointing and they’ll want to get back on track quickly. With both sides showing poor form, this selection is based on gut. The O’s performances are better than the bare results and I think they’ll take the win here.

Reading v Cheltenham

This is another battle of two winless sides but it looks like a good opportunity for Reading to get off the mark. The Royals haven’t scored yet this term but that has to change soon given the quality of their firepower. Granted striker Andy Carroll is in the twilight of his career but he has plenty of quality for this level. Kelvin Ehibhationham netted twice versus Millwall in the EFL Cup so should have some confidence too. Back at the Majeski, a home win looks likely.
