EFL Tips: Argyle To Dominate The Dons

EFL Tips: Argyle To Dominate The Dons

It’s another tough week in the EFL but Gaz has spotted some value with away sides catching the eye.

MK Dons v Plymouth

Sat 15th Oct 15:00

Plymouth formed part of my bet last week and cruised to a 3-0 victory over Accrington. That victory extends Argyle’s unbeaten run in the league to an impressive 9 games (W8, D1, L0). It’s now four back-to-back wins for The Pilgrims and Saturday brings an ideal opportunity to extend that run further.

MK Dons come into this match in 22nd place in the League One table with just one home win to their name this season. The Dons have lost 5 of their last 6 matches including their last 3 on the spin. Up against table-toppers Plymouth it’s hard to see Liam Manning’s side being able to compete here. With that in mind, a Plymouth Win @ 6/5 looks like a brilliant bet.

Stockport v Grimsby

Sat 15th Oct 15:00

I mentioned in an earlier column that Stockport are living off past glories, particularly their home form over recent seasons, and that still seems to be the case in the minds of the Bookmakers. Currently sitting in 16th place and with just 3 wins in 12 games I just can’t see why they should be trading at odds-on. Granted, their home record is still decent (W2, D3, L1) but it’s not world-beating and I think it’s worth taking the newly promoted side on here.

Grimsby are the visitors this weekend and look to be coming in under the radar. Success on their travels has been the theme for The Mariners, losing just 1 of their matches away from Blundell Park (W4, D1, L1). Paul Hurts’s side have been competitive in every game they’ve played and I’m backing Grimsby @ 31/10  to take all 3 points here.

Swindon v Colchester

Sat 15th Oct 15:00

If you were to focus on Colchester’s record in all competitions (no defeat in 3 games), you’d probably think The U’s were overpriced in this one. Their league record however tells a different story and that’s what I’m focusing on. Last weeks’ win over Harrogate was Colchester’s first win in 8 League Two games (W1, D2, L5) and provides some positive news. That victory was at home though and a look at their away form (W0, D1, L4) sees the dark clouds rolling back in.

Swindon lost on the road last week against league leaders Stevenage but before that they had been on a decent run, particularly at home. The Robins have lost just one of their matches at The County Ground and are lurking just outside the playoff places (1 point off 6th). Up against a side with a leaky away defence, averaging 1.8 goals per game, evens looks like good value for a home victory. I’m pushing the boat out though and backing Swindon Win & Over 1.5 Goals (6/4).

Smart Bets

MK Dons v Plymouth: Plymouth Win @ 6/5 (5 points)

Stockport v Grimsby: Grimsby Win @ 31/10 (1 point)

Swindon v Colchester: Swindon & Over 1.5 Goals @ 6/4 (2 points)

Above in a treble 21/1 (1 point)
