EFL Tips: Best Bets for Saturday 02 September

The EFL continues apace and Gaz just keeps on racking up winning bets. With 20 units of profit already he is taking on the best EFL bets this weekend.

Championship Betting Tips

Rotherham Utd v Norwich City

Sat 02 Sep 15:00

Rotherham have had a dismal start to the season with just one point on the board thus far (W0, D1, L3). The Millers just can’t seem to keep a clean sheet and have conceded at least 2 goals in all of their league matches. Tuesday’s midweek EFL Cup tie against Stoke looked like it could be a welcome distraction, but ended up adding to the Yorkshiremen’s misery as they came out on the wrong end of a 6-1 scoreline.

Norwich featured in last week’s acca and got the job done with aplomb, hammering Huddersfield by four goals to nil. That victory maintains The Canaries unbeaten start to the season (W3, D1, L0) and they look a force to be reckoned with. David Wagner’s men have been particularly impressive going forward, averaging 3.2 goals scored per Championship game. Midfielder Josh Sargent limped out of Saturday’s win with a serious looking ankle injury and while that’s a concern in the long run, it shouldn’t be a major factor this weekend. This looks like a mismatch and at 10/11 a Norwich win looks banker material.

League One Betting Tips

Burton Albion v Exeter City

Sat 02 Sep 15:00

Burton are yet to register a win this season (W0, D2, L3) and that suits me given I’ve backed them to be relegated. The Brewers will take some solace from the back-to-back draws they’ve achieved in recent weeks but they still look out of their depth in my opinion. A major concern will be their lack of goals, with just 2 goals scored in their opening 5 matches.

Exeter have had a great start (W3, D1, L1) and currently sit in second place in the League One table. The Grecians have been solid on the road, scoring 5 and conceding 1 in their three away matches thus far. I had expected  City to be odds on in this contest and with that in mind, the 29/20 has to be taken.

League Two Betting Tips

Crewe v MK Dons

The MK Dons have featured in my last two accumulators and got the job done on both occasions. They now top the League Two table and I think it’s wise to stick with them again this weekend. The Dons confidence would have been boosted further by a convincing EFL Trophy win (4-1 scoreline) over Chelsea U21’s in midweek. Given their recent form I had expected a price of around evens but the bookies are offering 29/20 and that’s too big for me to refuse. That inflated price is probably due to the fact that Crewe are unbeaten at Gretsy Road and while that is a concen, I’m still happy to take them one given the Dons firepower.

Doncaster v Swindon Town

Sat 02 Sep 15:00

Doncaster sit rock bottom of League Two having claimed just one point in their opening five matches. The positive for Rovers is that they’ve been competitive and have put in some decent performances. After failing to score in their opening two league matches the Yorkshire side have netted in each of their last three. The negative for Grant McCann’s men is their defensive record. They’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in any game this season and average 2.4 goals conceded per league match.

Swindon are the visitors on Saturday and they’re just about the worst side a suspect defense could wish to face at the moment. The Robins have only played four league games thus far but have scored 15 goals (average 3.75 scored), including 11 in their last two matches. Given Doncaster’s low confidence and aforementioned defensive frailties an away win is the bet for me here at tasty odds of 7/5.

EFL Betting Tips

Rotherham v Norwich – Norwich Win @ 10/11 (4 points)

Burton v Exeter – Exeter Win @ 29/20 (2 points)

Doncaster v Swindon – Swindon Win @ 7/5 (1 point)

Crewe v MK Dons – MK Dons Win @ 29/20

Above in a treble @ 26/1
