After a dramatic end to last weekend’s La Liga action Savage landed the first All Action Acca of the season for TheACCAdemics.com for 68 units. After the distraction of midweek Champions League and Europa League attention returns to matters domestic and Savage shares his best bets.
Barcelona v Celta Vigo
Sat 23 Sep 17:30
Having beaten Royal Antwerp in mid-week to make it back to back 5-0 wins, it looks like Barcelona have really hit their stride early this season. The most worrying thing for Benitez’s men will be how easily they dismantled Real Betis in their last league outing. Although the Galician side are likely to sit deep in defense, they will face intense pressure for the full 90. Barca appear to have an abundance of attacking talent across the field and could do some serious damage here. Celta have just one win from five (W1 D1 L3) which came against bottom side Almería. New signing Joao Félix has already netted three times in his first two starts and he could bag another if the home side get going early.
Almería v Valencia
Sat 23 Sep 20:00
Almería have had a rough re-introduction into the top flight. They are currently winless and have managed just a solitary point from their first 5 games (D1 L4). With Valencia currently sitting in 5th after a decent start this could be another tough outing for the hosts. Los Che are coming off the back of their biggest win so far having put 3 past Atlético last time out. They should be full of confidence going into this one as a result. Hugo Duro has already managed to get on the scoresheet 3 times and will be hoping for an easy outing against a team that has already conceded 11 goals. The visitors should not meet too much resistance from a side that looks dangerously like the league whipping boys.
Atlético Madrid v Real Madrid
Sun 24 Sep 20:00
The season is only in its infancy and already the fans are being treated to a serious heavyweight clash as El Derbi Madridleno tops the bill this week. Real are already cruising on two fronts. They have registered 6 wins from 6 in all competitions and conceded just 3 goals along the way. Jude Bellingham delivered when it mattered most as his 94th minute winner broke the hearts of the Union Berlin fans. Atleti’s form, by contrast to that of their crosstown rivals, has fluctuated wildly. From the high of the 0-7 demolition of Rayo to a chastening 3-0 defeat at the hands of Valencia within the space of two matchdays. Nobody could have predicted the incredible 95th minute equaliser from Lazio’s keeper Provedel that saw the 3 points slip midweek. The visitors may just about shade this one especially if a certain young Englishman has his say.
