Ligue 1 Tips: High Flying Nice Travel to Montpellier on Friday Night

A column favourite makes a return in Dermot’s 14/1 Ligue 1 treble

Dermot finished the weekend on a high as Nice dominated Rennes. The surprise Ligue 1 leaders travel to Montpellier on Friday night with a chance to put four points between them and PSG, who take on fourth-place Reims the following day. Bottom-placed Lyon travel to Rennes in search of their first win of the season.

Le Havre v Monaco Prediction

Sat 11 Nov 20:00

After a run of 3 games without a goal, Le Havre scored twice when they beat Toulouse 2-1 last weekend. Star of the show was Mohamed Bayo who is finding his best form again after things didn’t work out at parent club Lille.  His 9.21 rating on WhoScored.com was good enough to have him as the top striker in Europe’s Big 5 leagues last week. Only 3 sides have conceded more away goals than Monaco this season in Ligue 1. At 10/3 to score any time, the big Guinean looks well priced.

Mohamed Bayo to score anytime @ 10/3

Clermont Foot v Lorient Prediction

Sun 12 Nov 14:00

I’ve backed against Clermont in Ligue 1 a lot this season but this looks like a good spot for only their second win of the season. Lorient have 5 players injured along with an awful record on the road. The home side haven’t conceded more than 2 goals since back in late August. They still dominate most sides in possession. Given Les Merlus habit of downing tools when things aren’t going their way, this is a good spot for 3pts for Pascal Gastien’s side.

Clermont to win @ 6/5

Rennes v Lyon Prediction

Sun 12 Nov 16:05

Fabio Grosso might be out of a job already if Lyon lose this game. 2pts from 3 home games against Lorient, Clermont and Metz now makes relegation from Ligue 1 a real possibility. Rennes have a full squad to pick from bar the suspended Warmed Omari. Maybe being away from the home fans will help OL. Only PSG have scored more goals at home than Rennes though. The visitors have only managed to score once on the road. 8/11 is a pretty good price for what I’d see as a 1/3 shot.

Rennes to win @ 8/11

Smart Bets

Mohamed Bayo to score anytime @ 10/3

Clermont to win @ 6/5

Rennes to win @ 8/11

Above in a treble (best priced): over 14/1
