Ligue 1 Tips: Nice To Be Nasty At Home To Monaco

Ligue 1 Tips: Nice To Be Nasty At Home To Monaco

This week Dermot provides an on the nose 7/1 win treble

Reims are officially on the naughty step after letting the column (and the site’s weekly acca) down 2 weeks in a row. One point from a very achievable 6 has resulted in Will Still’s side falling out of the European places, let alone challenging for the UCL spots.

PSG welcome Lille to the Parc des Princes (which has been announced that PSG are leaving in 3 years time) for what should be an entertaining game. Ultimately you’d fancy Luis Enrique’s side to win even if Lille’s tenacious midfield won’t make it easy.

The game of the weekend in Ligue 1 rounds out Game Week 21. Nice host Monaco at 19:45 on Sunday in Derby de la Côte d’Azur. A home win and a potential win for Brest at Clermont could see next season’s UCL entrants all but decided.

Lens Vs Strasbourg Prediction

After a disastrous start to the Ligue 1 season, Franck Haise’s side are now in the European places. They have only lost twice in the last 15 games (Nice away, PSG at home). All the spending on youth in the summer is slowly reaping the rewards for Strasbourg. They are competitive without being convincing. Patrick Vieira’s side are still one of Ligue 1’s worst away sides though, managing just a paltry 8 goals.

Clermont vs Brest Prediction

Clermont had a surprise victory over Nantes in game week 18. The flaws in Pascal Gastien’s side were laid bare last week when Lille beat them 4-0 with ease. News was announced during the week that the head coach’s contract won’t be renewed at the end of the season. Not the best motivation tactic for a team struggling to stay in Ligue 1.

Brest’s form over their last 3 in all competitions reads W0-D2-L1. The actual form is very good when looked at properly. A 2-2 draw with PSG (1st) in Paris was followed by a 0-0 at home to Nice (2nd). The loss was another trip to Paris for the Coupe de France. I suspect the price here was based on those bare results as 3 weeks ago Brest would have been 4/6.

Nice Vs Monaco Prediction

Sun Feb 11th 19:45

Derby de la Côte d’Azur could hardly be between teams with two more contrasting formlines and styles. Nice have only scored 12 goals at home this season. The bigger stat though is that they have only conceded 2 goals at the Allianz Riviera in 10 games. Francesco Farioli’s side have been incredibly tough opponents at home.

Monaco bring a very contrasting set of goal stats. Only PSG (1st) have scored more goals on the road this season. But, only Lorient (18th) have conceded more when traveling. Except for a draw at Marseille (who ended the game with 9 men), their recent results have been poor – the win at Toulouse is expected of a squad with this quality. Adi Hutter is rumored to be on his way at the end of the season regardless. Nice look way overpriced to win this one.

* Nice have won 7 games 1-0 this season, 7/1 with some firms looks generous for a repeat.
