Ligue 1 Tips: Rennes to Roar at the Roazhon

Ligue 1 Tips: Rennes to Roar at the Roazhon

It’s a full house of home selections for Dermot’s 17/2 Ligue 1 treble

Game week 20 ends with the biggest game of the weekend (in terms of club size) when Lyon host Marseille. One feel’s that the 2nd Choc des Olympiques of the season will be “sh*t or get off the pot time” for Gennaro Gattuso. A draw at home to 9 man rivals Monaco last weekend has the OM faithful starting to turn on the Italian. The additional 2pts would have seen them in striking distance of 3rd place Brest.

Les Pirates had a fine 2-2 draw in Parc des Princes and must follow that tough game up with a visit of 2nd placed Nice. Francesco Farioli’s side have become almost Ligue 1’s forgotten men even if the gap to PSG is down to 6pts. Les Aiglons recorded their 6th 1-0 win of the season over Metz. Amazingly you’d be 20pts in profit just backing Nice to win 1-0 every week this season.

Rennes Vs Montpellier

Sun Feb 3rd 16:00

Julien Stéphan’s side is finally starting to piece together a decent run of form after a woefully inconsistent first half to the Ligue 1 season. They have won 3 in a row with an impressive 2-0 victory over 2nd placed Nice. Montpellier made a business decision over a team decision during the transfer window by sending precocious centre back Maxime Esteve out on loan to EPL side Burnley. Whilst I’m sure if he performs well he’ll fetch the club a decent price, relegation to Ligue 2 would have a bigger financial impact though. La Paillade are just 3pts off the relegation spots and with only 3 recognised centre backs.

Rennes to win -1 @ 7/4

Monaco vs Le Havre Prediction

Sun Feb 4th 12:00

Last week I referenced Jonathan David being a player to catch on a scoring streak. The other to catch in Ligue 1 is Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder. He has 5 in his last 6 league games (or 8 in last 6 including the Coupe de France). At the time of writing Bet365 appear to be only firm still offering odds against. Le Havre are short a few players with AFCON 2023 in progress and were lucky to draw 3-3 against a Lorient team missing 9 potential starters. The selection is 6/1 to score 2 or more for those that like to dabble in those markets.

Wissam Ben Yedder any time scorer @ 11/10

Reims Vs Toulouse

Sun Feb 4th 14:00

Reims were unusually bereft of ideas in front of goal last week against Nantes. They had 8 shots off target which you would imagine will be corrected by Will Still during the week. One goal will probably be enough against a side that’s only managed to find the net on 6 occasions on the road in Ligue 1 this season.

Reims to win @ 4/5

Ligue 1 Smart Bets
