Serie A Predictions: Back Bogey Team Sassuolo To Trouble Juve

Serie A Predictions: Back Bogey Team Sassuolo To Trouble Juve

Matchday 20 presents us with an interesting set of fixtures, littered with potential banana skins and Enzo has three outside Serie A betting predictions lined up

Napoli vs Salernitana Prediction

Sat 13th Jan 14:00

Napoli’s decision to replace Rudi Garcia with Walter Mazzarri after 12 games at the helm is beginning to look like a big mistake. Since Mazzarri’s appointment the Patenopei have only collected 7 points in as many games and the team looks rudderless. Last weeks 3-0 defeat to Torino was arguably their worst display of the season and if things continue on their current trajectory, Mazzarri’s days are numbered.

Salernitana are another side who underwent a managerial shakeup relatively recently. Filippo Inzaghi took over from Davide Nicola in November and succeded in getting the clubs first two wins of the 2023/24 campaign. The Granata are still rooted to the foot of the table but the perilous nature of their predicament seems to have finally sunk in and the squad has responded accordingly. A draw with Milan was followed by a tough away victory over Verona at the Bentegodi. The string of positive results came to an end last weekend when a stoppage-time Dusan Vlahovic header denied Salernitana a point at the death.

On paper, this should be an easy win for the home side but Napoli are in real trouble and their recent performances have been dire. Salernitana could so easily have given up already after their woeful start to the season but the squad has shown real grit and have been unlucky on more than one occasion. While an away victory at 8/1 might be a stretch, double chance draw/Salernitana @ 13/5 is definitely worth chancing.

Monza vs Inter Milan Prediction

Sat 13th Jan 19:45

Last weekend, Inter were involved in a thrilling encounter at the Meazza which saw the Nerazzuri cling on to become the winter champions. Davide Frattesi popped up in the 93rd minute to put Inzaghi’s side 2-1 ahead. Verona responded seven minutes later by winning a penalty only for Thomas Henry to hit the post and deny his team a vital point in their quest for salvation.

On Saturday, Inter travel to 11th placed Monza who have only been beaten twice at home. The Brianzoli have a decent record against the Nerazzuri (W1 D1 L2) and because of their proximity and connections to former Milan president, the late Silvio Berlusconi, they view this fixture as a bit of a derby. In keeping with the theme of this week’s column, I’m predicting another tough match for the big boys and going with Double Chance Monza/Draw @ 13/8.

Juventus vs Sassuolo Prediction

Tue 16th Jan 19:45

My final Serie A betting prediction is for Sassuolo to cause problems for 2nd placed Juventus. Sassuolo have been Italy’s bogey team for the last couple of seasons. Though they are not quite as unpredictable as last year, the Neroverdi are the only side who have beaten Inter and Juventus so far in the current campaign. With the likes of Berardi, Pinamonti and Lauriente in their ranks, Sassuolo have the ability to trouble any opponent if everything clicks.

Juventus huffed and puffed against Salernitana at the weekend and like on so many other occasions, it was a last-gasp winner that broke the deadlock. This time around, with the 4-2 defeat in the reverse fixture ringing in their ears, I’m not so sure if Juve will be able to continue their stoppage-time heroics. Double Chance Draw/Sassuolo @ 2/1 is the bet.

Serie A Betting Predictions

Monza vs Inter Milan: Double Chance Monza/Draw @ 13/8
