Enzo had a poor matchday 9 by his lofty betting standards but he has three more Serie A betting predictions for this weekends Italian football that will hopefully see him back to winning ways
Matchday 9 was a total washout for my Serie A tips column although to be fair, there was a large amount of misfortune involved. After meticulously researching the probable lineups, I decided that Giovanni Simeone was a dead cert for a goal against Verona. Of course, on the day he didn’t start and only came on for 15mins when Napoli were 3-1 up which was too little time to get on the scoresheet.
Double chance Monza/Draw was scuppered by red card and a late Roma winner. Monza were forced to play the entire second half with 10 men before El Shaarawy’s struck in 90th minute to steal the three points. Mourinho was subsequently sent to the stands for making crying gestures towards the Monza dugout. Conspiracies have since abounded that Jose intentionally received the red card so as to avoid traveling to meet his former club, Inter, next Sunday.
My final Serie A betting prediction, a Milan Juve draw, was also ruined by a red card. The match started as predicted with very few chances for either side before Thiaw saw red for hacking down Moise Kean. From that moment on, Juventus took control and eventually ran out winners thanks to a deflected Locatelli effort. The result was bad for my pocket but good for the title race as only two points now separate the top three sides.
Monza v Udinese Prediction
Sun 29th Oct 14:00
The first Italian football betting prediction for matchday 10 is a no frills under 2.5 goals @ evs. In my mind there is no reason as to why this is priced so highly. Only two of Monza’s nine games have exceeded the 2.5 mark and just three of Udinese’s have seen three or more goals scored. Two of those games were a 3-0 and a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Juventus and Napoli. Since Beto’s departure and Delofeu’s injury, the Zebrette really lack a cutting edge and this should be exacerbated by Monza’s naturally defensive style. The only element that puts a slight doubt in my mind is the new manager bounce factor. Udinese recently sacked Andrea Sottil after a nine game winless streak and replaced him with the former Verona head coach Gabriele Cioffi.
Inter Milan v Roma Prediction
Sun 29th Oct 17:00
Roma’s campaign began badly but the Giallorossi have begun to find their feet. Three league wins in a row and some good results in Europe have eased the pressure on Jose Mourinho but their only real test so far has been against Milan, a game which they lost 2-1.
In contrast Inter started the season with a bang (W7 D1 L1) and they currently sit at the top of the table with 22 points. A shock loss at home to the ever enigmatic Sassuolo is the only time the Nerazzuri have failed to pick up at least a point.
As Roma fan I would love to be able to back an upset but I just can’t see it happening. The Giallorossi’s problem for years has been their propensity to choke against the big four, even when they had some wonderful players and I fear the same will happen here. On top of this, Roma have only managed one win away from the Olimpico so far and that was against rock bottom Cagliari. A straight Inter win offers little value at odds on but combine it with over 2.5 goals and it’s worth a shout. 75% of Roma’s away matches have gone over 2.5 goals and 80% of Inter’s have done the same so Inter win & over 2.5 goals @ 13/8 looks like a solid selection.
Napoli v AC Milan Prediction
Sun 29th Oct 19:45
My final Serie A prediction is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to score anytime @ 11/4. In the absence of Victor Osimhen, Kvaradona stepped up to the mark by scoring twice last Sunday in the 3-1 victory over Verona. With the Georgian it tends to be a feast or a famine and he had begun to draw some mild criticism for his lack of goals this season. However, he looks to be back in feast mode so catch him while he is hot at a very decent price.
Serie A Predictions
Monza v Udinese: Under 2.5 goals @ Evs
Inter Milan v Roma: Inter win & over 2.5 goals @ 13/8
Napoli v AC Milan: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to score anytime @ 11/4
