Serie A Predictions: Cagey Clashes In Store At The Foot Of The Table

Enzo turns his attention to the foot of the table as crunch time approaches in Serie A

Monza v Lazio Prediction

Sat 4th May 17:00

To say Monza are already on holidays would be a little unfair but the Brianzoli’s form (W0 D2 L3) has certainly dipped lately. Sitting in 11th place on 44 points, they are comfortably safe but have no chance of qualifying for Europe. With that in mind, Palladino’s side can be forgiven for not exactly over exerting themselves.

Conversely, their opponents Lazio are still in mix for Europe. With four games left to play, Lazio have every chance of closing the 2 point gap between them and Atalanta in 6th and could feasibly pip Roma to 5th. Lazio’s form is red hot too.  Since Giovanni Martusciello replaced Sarri the Biancocelesti have only lost once (W5 D0 L1) and that was a narrow defeat in the Rome derby. So taking all that into account, my final Serie A betting prediction is a Lazio win @ 20/21.

Cagliari v Lecce Prediction

Sun 5th May 11:30

Salernitana were officially relegated last weekend but as many as seven teams can still drop down to Serie B next season. Two of those are Lecce and Cagliari though they are in the best positions of the pack to stay up. Lecce currently have 36 points and occupy 13th place, seven clear of Udinese in 18th who have 29. Cagliari sit one place below in 12th but only have a three point cushion between them and the dropzone. At this late stage in the competition every point matters and I get the feeling that neither side here will want to risk losing so my first Serie A betting prediction is a Draw @ 23/10.

Empoli v Frosinone Prediction

Sun 5th May 14:00

Sticking with teams in danger of relegation and with draws, I am backing another one here. Frosinone and Empoli have 31 points apiece, 2 clear of 18th placed Udinese who face Napoli on Sunday. It is safe to assume that the Zebrette will not get anything from that game so a share of the spoils would serve Empoli and Frosinone well. Both sides still have to play Udinese on the penultimate and final day and potentially going into that game needing only a draw or not to lose by a cricket score would be a massive advantage so again the draw looks likey. For extra value I’m going with Draw/Under 2.5 goals @ 7/2. Only one of Empoli’s last 8 have seen three or more goals scored and I can’t see that changing in what should be a cautious encounter.

Serie A Betting Predictions

Cagliari v Lecce: Draw @ 23/10

Empoli v Frosinone: Draw/Under 2.5 goals @ 7/2

Monza v Lazio: Lazio win @ 20/21
