There are some mouthwatering games in Italy this weekend and Enzo has three Serie A betting predictions for the most consequential clashes
Matchday 10 was not a great one for the column. Inter triumphed over Roma 1-0 at the Meazza as predicted but unfortunately, the over 2.5 part of the bet did not come through. My second Serie A prediction was for Kvaradona to bag himself a goal against Milan. Napoli did fight back from 2-0 down to secure a point but it was Raspadori and the in-form Politano who got on the scoresheet. The weekend was somewhat salvaged by my third betting prediction, under 2.5 in Monza v Udinese, which finished 1-1.
Lets hope we can get back to turning a profit in Matchday 11 with these Serie A predictions.
Atalanta v Inter Milan
Sat 4th Nov 17:00
Arguably the game of the weekend, this is a very tough one to call. Atalanta are unbeaten the Gewiss Arena (W3 D1 L0) and Inter boast a 100% away record. That being said, the Nerazzurri have only played the bottom three plus Torino away from the Meazza which makes that 100% record a little misleading. At home though Inzghi’s side have looked shakier and have dropped points against Sassuolo and Bologna in recent weeks. For Atalanta’s part, the only top eight side they have faced in Bergamo was Juve and that ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
Like I said, it is very difficult to separate these two sides. On paper and going by the six point gap in the table, an away win is the most likely result but at 11/10 it is not worth the risk. Historically this fixture has not been an easy assignment for Inter. Out of the last 10 league meetings between them 5 have finished in a tie so the draw @ 5/2 will be my bet.
Cagliari v Genoa Prediction
Sun 5th Nov 14:00
During the first eight games of the season Cagliari only managed to pick up two points and score a paltry three goals. However, something has changed for Ranieri’s side the last week and the Isolani have suddenly gone from characterless no hopers to Serie A’s great entertainers. A thrilling 2-2 with Salernitana, which saw 4 goals in the last 10 minutes, was followed by one of the greatest comeback victories in Italian football history. 3-0 down to Frosinone at half-time, the home side regrouped and scored four in the final 20 minutes including two from veteran striker Leonardo Pavoletti in added time. This means that Cagliari are no longer bottom of the table and are now just a point from safety.
On Sunday they take on Genoa, a side who are not synonymous with goal-scoring but I’m hoping Cagliari’s newfound form will continue and we are in for another thriller. With that in mind, over 2.5 goals @ 11/10 is my second Serie A betting prediction for matchday 11.
Fiorentina v Juventus Prediction
Sun 5th Nov 19:45
Though not technically a derby, Fiorentina v Juventus could be described as an inter-city derby and is one of the spiciest fixture of the Italian footballing calendar. This edition will see Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa face off against their former club in what should be a very heated affair.
Of the 42 meetings between these two, Fiorentina have only won six and I can’t see that changing on Sunday. La Viola certainly have the potential to spring a surprise but losses to Lazio and Empoli hint at the heavy schedule taking it’s toll. A Juventus Win @ 13/8 is my final Serie A betting prediction of the week.
