Serie A Predictions: Lautaro To Shine In The Milan Derby

Enzo returns after the international break with two Serie A bets for the Milan Derby and one for the less glamorous clash of Cagliari v Udinese

Matchday 3 was a profitable one for our Serie A predictions column. Rafael Leão got off the mark with an acrobatic winner that sunk Roma and Juventus ground out a classic win to nil against struggling Empoli to give us 2.75 units of profit for the week. This weekend all eyes will be on the Derby della Madonnina where Milan and Inter’s 100% records are on the line .

Inter Milan v AC Milan Prediction

The Milan derby is one of, if not the biggest fixture in the Italian football calendar and generally it doesn’t disappoint. This season should be no different as Inter and Milan come into the clash with three wins from three and little to separate them. Both have scored 8 goals but Inter top the table due to not having conceded in their first three matches.

The Nerazzurri will have a full squad to choose from on Sunday but Milan will be without the suspended Tomori and the injured Kalulu. Meanwhile, the Rossoneri are also sweating over the fitness of Olivier Giroud who picked up a knock while on international duty. The veteran striker, who has scored four so far, would be a huge loss for Milan and should he be deemed unfit to start, will most likely be replaced by Luka Jovic.

Normally in coin toss games like this one, I tend to go with the bigger priced team. However, I am going to break this habit and back an Inter win @ 11/10. As impressive as Milan have been, the Nerazzurri have looked like a more complete team and if things start going wrong, they have more options on the bench to turn things around. On top of this, defences win games as the old saying goes and Inzaghi’s side have been rock solid at the back which will be a massive advantage especially if they face a second string Milan attack.

When you are watching a game its always nice to have a player bet or two so I will back Lautaro Martinez anytime goalscorer @ 6/4. The Argentinian frontman has been red hot, scoring five goals in three starts so any price above evs for him to continue his run seems like a bargain.

Cagliari v Udinese Prediction

From game of the weekend to snoozefest of the weekend, Cagliari v Udinese is unlikely to be one for the annals. The pair have only managed one goal each and have conceded four apiece. Cagliari shipped two against Inter and Juventus put three past Udinese but when facing the teams around them both have been reasonably robust defensively.

Under 2.5 goals is the obvious choice but at 8/11 I’m looking for something with more juice and going for the draw @ 23/10. I can see these two cancelling each other out in a dull affair where goalmouth action is at a premium and I wouldn’t dissuade anyone from having a punt on a 0-0 at 9/1.
