The first round of midweek Serie A games is upon us and Enzo has selected two bets he thinks have a good chance of winning.
Sampdoria v Lazio Wed 31 Aug 17:30
Lazio secured an outstanding 3-1 victory over Inter in Rome on Friday evening. Pedro and Luis Alberto both netted stunners and Felipe Anderson also got his name on the scoresheet. Even more surprising than the result was that Ciro Immobile did not get amongst the goals. The four time Capocannoniere is now staring down the barrel of a three game goalless streak which would be a rarity for such a prolific striker. However, a trip to winless Sampdoria represents the perfect opportunity to prevent this from happening. Another pleasant surprise is that Immobile Anytime Goalscorer is available @ 5/4, a price that is too good to pass up on.
Atalanta v Torino Thurs 1 Sep 19:45
I tipped Atalanta to triumph over Verona at the weekend and they duly did the business. Gasperini’s side have started the season well (W2 D1 L0) and have only dropped points against the reigning champions. The phrase “winning ugly” perfectly sums up La Dea’s recent workmanlike performances. They have only conceded once and none of their games have seen more than two match goals scored.
Like Atalanta, Torino are also unbeaten (W2 D1 L0). Toro collected maximum points with two 2-1 victories against newly promoted Monza and Cremonese and a credible 0-0 draw away to Lazio. Last season Torino finished inside the top 10 despite having a goal difference of just five. They seldom won a game by more than a goal and only lost three by more than a single strike. The trend appears to have carried over into this campaign too.
This clash has all the signs of being a dull affair but I fancy Atalanta to eventually come out on top. As Torino don’t often take a hammering and with Atalanta looking laboured in attack, Atalanta -1 Draw @ 13/5 looks like a decent shout.
