The All Action ACCA: A 10/1 Treble To Kick Start The Season

Each week we combine the best bets from our league specialists and create an acca across The Premier League, EFL, Serie A, Ligue 1 and La Liga.

Bristol Rovers v Barnsley FC

Sat 12 Aug 3:00 pm

Gaz has plumped for a massive 3U bet on this game and it is easy to see why. Bristol Rovers’ defensive frailties once again reared their head last weekend as Portsmouth netted in the 90th minute to take a share of the spoils. Rovers are winless in 8 league matches since April (W0, D3, L5) and Joey Barton’s men conceded an average of 1.73 goals per game last season.

Barnsley showed there was no hangover from last season’s Playoff Final defeat at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday by routing Port Vale in their opening game. Striker Devante Cole bagged himself a 30-minute hattrick in what was a truly clinical display. Unsurprisingly, given their exploits last year The Tykes are amongst the favorites for promotion, and I’m confident they’ll enhance that reputation this weekend.

Brentford v Tottenham

Sun 13 Aug 2:00 pm

LB fancies a straightforward home win in this London derby. Spurs will surely take some time to get used to Ange Postecoglou’s approach and the Harry Kane saga can be doing their preparations no good at all. Brentford picked up plenty of impressive wins as underdogs last season including 5 wins against the top six and should be better prepared for Matchday One than this new-look Spurs side.

Montpellier v Le Havre AC

Sat 30 Dec 2:00 pm

With Elye Wahi still on the books at La Paillade it’s much the same side that finished the season in 12th place. The key boost to this season though is starting with Michel Der Zakarian at the helm. After joining in February, he guided Montpellier to 30 of their 50 points in just 16 games. A continuation of that form could see more Jekyll and less Hyde this season from one of Ligue 1’s most entertaining sides.

Le Havre return to Ligue 1 for the first time since 2009 after an incredible defensive display in the second tier last season. Le Club Doyen conceded just 19 goals over 38 games. Scoring goals will be more of an issue for the away side. And in this game, it’s almost given that they will need to score as Montpellier only failed to score 3 times in 19 home games last season. Whilst it might take time, the flair the home side have should be enough to win this one.

The All Action Acca:

Bristol Rovers v Barnsley – Barnsley To Win @ 6/5

Brentford v Tottenham: Brentford To Win @ 15/8

Montpellier v Le Havre AC: Montpellier to win @ EVS

The above treble is a little over 10/1 with Bet365.

European Football Punter Extraordinaire. Although claiming to support Arsenal around The Accademics office, he is a football hipster at heart - just don’t tell him that! Happiest cheering on goals and upsets in the unloved Serie B and Belgian First Division A. Not to mention being a closeted college football fan. His biggest claim to fame is winning the New England College Rugby Champions at the lofty heights of varsity Division IV. The less vocal Grangee owner in the group. Loves to tip a midfielder for a shot on target.
