The College Football Dogs: Week 10 CFB Bets

LB looks at the NCAAF Week ten fixtures and picks his best bets and upsets across all of College Football.

Clemson @ Notre Dame

The Irish host Clemson on Saturday and I fancy another marquee win for Marcus Freeman’s men. Since the summer I have felt Clemson were overrated and I have seen little to make me change my mind. It is true their offense has improved considerably, but on the flip side their defense is allowing a lot more points than anyone could have expected. Winning ugly is a sign of champions and I am sure plenty of Tigers’ fans would spin their record in a positive light. However, Clemson have only faced three reasonably strong teams and won each game by a single score.

Notre Dame’s record is nearly the exact opposite. The Fighting Irish have looked truly impressive in their double digit wins over North Carolina, BYU and Syracuse, not to mention being the only team to remotely push OSU. But ND have been woeful in defeat to Marshall and Stanford and did not impress at all in beating California or UNLV.

Notre Dame have a tendency to deliver when it matters so far under Freeman, both in terms of big games and big moments. With a host of key recruits on campus The Irish will know how important a win here is for the next steps for this program. Clemson could be in for an outright upset here.

Alabam @ LSU

This is a similar spot for me to the one above. I expected LSU to look good this year and despite a rocky start they now look to be hitting their groove. Alabama have been poor on the road for two years now and could struggle in Death Valley. The weather is forecasted to be hot and humid, emphasizing LSU’s home field advantage, and Tiger Stadium at night is special. Bryce Young is probably the best QB in college football but Jayden Daniels has the talent to punish The Tide. This LSU defense is not at all similar to the Tennessee one that terrorized Bama’s secondary but I think they can be just as effective. Daniels loves to scramble and he is incredibly good at it. He combines that with a lethal long ball that will give the Alabama D a lot to think about. On the other side of the ball I think LSU’s defense is the toughest Bama has had to face yet and will be able to gobble up The Tide’s running game.

Iowa @ Purdue

Can Purdue score enough against this mean Iowa D to win this game? Maybe. I’m just not sure they should be favored to do it.

Air Force @ Army

There is no point in rattling off the various stats and metrics to justify an unders bet here. These programs like to run the ball, and the clock and this could be the type of stinker we all love.

Smart Bets

Clemson @ Notre Dame: Notre Dame +3.5

Alabam @ LSU: LSU +14

Alabam @ LSU: LSU Moneyline win @ +400

Iowa @ Purdue: Iowa +3.5

Air Force @ Army: Under 40 Points
