The College Football Dogs: Week 8 CFB TNF Bets

LB looks at the NCAAF Week Eight TNF fixtures and picks his best bets and upsets across all of College Football.

There are five midweek games this week and one stands out from a betting perspective.

Troy @ South Alabama

Troy travel to Mobile on Thursday for Battle for the Belt and the game that will most certainly decide which of these two goes to The Sun Belt Conference Game in December. South Alabama are 5-1 with the sole defeat coming against UCLA (by a single point). For that reason alone I can see why they are home favorites here. However, I think that game was more of a slip up by The Bruins and the rest of this Jaguars schedule is not all that impressive.

Troy are 5-2 with September road losses to P5 Ole Miss and App State (by 4 points). Their defense looks to be rock solid with less than 20 points allowed per game. The one question could be Troy’s preference for passing, which South Alabama are decent at defending, but I honestly don’t think it will matter.

The Jaguars have not faced a defense as tough as Troy so far and they could be in for something of a shock. Carter Bradley has thrown an interception in 4 of 5 games so far and I expect another one on TNF as The Trojans frustrate his offense. Led by Defensive End TJ Jackson, Troy have wreaked havoc so far, with 22 sacks, 10 fumbles and 7 interceptions. They have a Top 30 defense in the country and I expect them to force South Alabama into attempting big plays – and against this defense they won’t have much success.

Smart Bets

Troy @ South Alabama: Troy +3.5 2U

Troy @ South Alabama: Troy +3.5 & Under 47 Points @ +265 (2.65/1)
